Ivor King is proud to welcome Harrison, Tyler, Theo, and Wade, joining Ivor King as Trainee Piling Operatives, as they embark on a full-time, fully paid 12-month training programme. This structured scheme provides the technical skills, practical experience, and accredited qualifications needed to succeed in the piling and construction industry
A New Milestone in Piling Training
While Ivor King has always welcomed and trained new recruits, this is the first formal training programme delivered entirely through our modern in-house training facilities.
With over 50 years of experience in the piling industry, we understand the importance of nurturing homegrown talent. The new training programme allows us to share our expertise, support young people into permanent roles, and helps address the shortage of skilled workers in construction and civil engineering.

Hands-On Experience in a Safe Training Environment
At Ivor King Training, we create ‘real-life’ construction scenarios using a range of plant and equipment.
These days, it’s virtually impossible to train on-site, so our modern training facilities allow us to deliver practical experience without the pressures and restrictions of live construction projects. There’s no substitute for experience — this approach gives trainees the confidence and skills they need before they step onto a real site.
Trainees will learn:
- Various piling installation techniques
- Challenges and scenarios commonly encountered on-site
- Safe operation of plant and machinery
Accredited Training and Qualifications
The programme is delivered by CPCS and NPORS-approved Training Assessors, covering both practical skills and theory.
Trainees will:
- Complete an NVQ in Piling Operations
- Gain essential CPCS tickets
- Acquire the confidence and expertise to work safely and efficiently on construction sites
This blend of practical and theoretical training ensures each trainee leaves fully prepared to join the workforce as a competent piling operative.
