Our in-house technical team supports a broad range of temporary and permanent piling applications, including sheet pile retaining walls, king post walls, cofferdams, flood-relief schemes, bearing piles and CFA elements. The scope can be tailored to the project, from early feasibility and option development through to detailed design and installation support.

Early involvement is usually most valuable because piling options can be assessed alongside the ground investigation, structural requirements, programme and site constraints before key decisions are fixed. We can also assist at later stages where a concept needs developing, checking or adapting to suit buildability, temporary works or installation requirements.

Early Contractor Involvement, or ECI, brings specialist contractor knowledge into the design-development phase. It allows construction methods, plant access, sequencing, material availability, temporary works and project risks to be considered early. This collaborative approach can help identify feasible options and reduce avoidable changes once work reaches site.

Depending on the scope, our proposals and estimates may include structural load-bearing capacities, soil and ground-strata analysis, engineering calculations and supporting graphical or tabular outputs. Information is presented clearly so that the proposed system, key assumptions and technical basis can be reviewed by the wider project team.

Risk management is applied to our in-house designs for both permanent and temporary works. The process considers installation hazards, design assumptions and residual risks that could affect the completed structure, future alteration or demolition. Our quality, environmental and safety systems are accredited to BS EN ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Useful information includes site and structural drawings, design loads, ground investigation and groundwater data, retained levels, nearby buildings and services, access and working-space constraints, environmental limits, design life and the programme. Where information is incomplete, we can identify the further surveys, testing or design inputs likely to be required.
