Ivor King has extensive experience in moving heavy plant and machinery, amassed over more than 50 years as one of the UK’s leading independent, multi-disciplined piling operators.

In addition to supporting our own successful operation, our fleet of heavy haulage vehicles are also available for any external transport requirements that you may have – large or small.

Our wholly owned and operated fleet of heavy haulage vehicles and specialist trailers, combined with our unique industry knowledge allows us to transport any heavy, long or abnormal loads of up to around 120 tonnes gross weight.

Operating from a central, strategically located facility in the heart of the Midlands close to the M1, M6 and M42 motorway networks, we are ideally poised to efficiently travel the length and breadth of the United Kingdom to meet all of your transport needs.

From start to finish, you can be confident we’ll act as an extension of your business, from arranging all of the necessary legislative paperwork and organising the relevant movement notifications, through to ensuring the appropriate escort is in place as required.

Our entire business operates to BS EN ISO 9001, 14001 and BS EN ISO 45001 – evidence of our commitment to service excellence and quality. Furthermore, we’re FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) Silver accredited which confirms we can confidently demonstrate we are actively committed to improved safety, environmental impact and efficiency, with continual efforts to set new benchmarks of performance.

We also hold HGV Safety Permits for all our Euro VI standard lorries driving in Greater London, as part of TfL’s Direct Vision Standard introduced in March 2021 and updated in October 2024.

Can you handle abnormal or oversized loads?

Yes. Our wholly owned fleet includes heavy-haulage vehicles and specialist trailers for abnormal, long and heavy payloads. Suitability depends on the load dimensions and weight, centre of gravity, collection and delivery access, route restrictions, lifting arrangements and any notification or escort requirements.

Where do your haulage services operate?

We operate throughout the United Kingdom from our Midlands base, with convenient access to the M1, M5, M6, M42 and M69 motorway networks. Route feasibility, regional restrictions, timing requirements and vehicle availability are reviewed for each movement before the transport plan is confirmed.

How do you plan an abnormal-load movement?

Planning starts with accurate load and site information, followed by vehicle and trailer selection, route assessment and checks on access, structures and restrictions. Where required, our team arranges the relevant legislative paperwork, movement notifications and escorts, then coordinates collection and delivery with the parties involved.

What accreditations support your transport operation?

Ivor King is FORS Silver accredited, and the wider business operates management systems accredited to BS EN ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Our Euro VI vehicles operating in Greater London also hold the relevant HGV Safety Permits under Transport for London’s Direct Vision Standard.

What information do you need to provide a haulage quote?

Please provide the load description, accurate dimensions and weight, collection and delivery addresses, preferred dates, access details, lifting or loading arrangements and any known route or time restrictions. Photographs, drawings, centre-of-gravity information and site contacts are also useful for unusual, heavy or abnormal loads.
