The aim of this NPORS course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to operate a Marine Knuckle Boom Crane effectively and safely, after passing both the NPORS theory and practical tests.

Course Details

To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

 

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities as an operator
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook
  • Locate and identify the major components and controls of the crane and explain their functions
  • Interpret the requirements of a lift plan and risk assessment
  • Conduct all pre-operation checks
  • Set up an exclusion zone
  • Configure and set the crane for lifting and transferring duties
  • Identify and inspect suitability of a landing area
  • Lift and move loads in a safe and controlled manner, with minimum uncontrolled movement
  • Operate the machinery safely and efficiently taking into consideration sea uplift and moving vessel decks
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
