This CPCS training course is aimed at all operatives who require a formal qualification in the use of loading and unloading mobile plant. The aim is to ensure candidates are trained to direct the actions of a crane in a competent, safe manner after passing both the CPCS theory and practical tests.
Course Details
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- Describing the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a Loader/Securer
- To name and explain types of transporters, their purpose, principal components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
- Conforming with manufacturer’s requirements as per the operator’s handbook, other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation
- Undertaking all pre-use checks on the transporter and prime mover
- Configuring and setting for site and public highway travel, loaded and unloaded
- Preparing the area for loading and unloading duties
- To configure and set the transporter for loading and unloading duties
- Explaining actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
- To arrange, use and comply with communication procedures
- Loading or the directing and positioning of different items of plant on and off a trailer
- To arrange, secure and ready items of plant on the trailer in preparation for travel on the public highway
- To explain legislative requirements for transporting loads on the highway
- Explaining considerations when planning a route on the public highway
- Stating requirements to be undertaken when loading and unloading on the public highway
- Carrying out shut down and securing procedures
- Explaining the Road Traffic Act requirements
Learners will need to have passed the Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years, prior to the course start date.
