NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) Courses
The aim of this NPORS course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely use Cable Avoidance Tools (CAT) after passing both the NPORS theory and practical tests.
Course Details
By the end of the course, candidates should be able to:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities
- Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant regulations, standards and legislation
- Identify services on plans for water, gas, electricity and telecommunications
- Survey a site for visual indications of services being present
- Point out on the ground where services are, in relation to the plans
- Identify damage to samples of different types of underground apparatus
- Demonstrate an understanding of the risks and implications of damaged underground apparatus
- Conduct all pre-operation checks
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Correctly use the equipment to scan an area for underground apparatus and record the findings
- Mark the site clearly to show the location of underground apparatus
- Correctly clean equipment, remove the battery pack and stow away
