The Challenge from the Client

Work on the side of an existing road under traffic control and install 100nr light piles to facilitate construction of a foundation block for crash barriers which would also form a drainage channel and kerb upstand to the side of the A495 in Shropshire.

The Ivor King Solution

A wheeled 360 degree excavator together with an emv hammer pre-drove the trench sheets to the depth required for the permanent works requirements. The scheme was carried out within a few days and, with localised traffic control and the use of mobile plant, caused minimal disruption to the nearby village of Ellesmere.
