A bored pile is an extension of the displacement piling technique and encompasses Rotary (sometimes called Large Diameter Auger LDA), CFA (continuous Flight Auger), SFA (Sectional Flight Auger), Mini (Restricted Mini piling – Micro piles), DTH – Odex (Down The Hole Hammer) and Grab. All these techniques have their own specific merits in the environment they’re required to work.

Driven piling solutions may be used to support buildings, tanks, towers and bridges, and to provide lateral support for earth retention walls. Steel sheet piles and soldier piles are the most common type of driven piles for this application.
Our driven pile solutions are principally Concrete or Steel (Tubular, Sheet Pile and H-Beam) and are all manufactured in accordance with up to date National Standards.
King Post Walls are a cost effective earth retention system, used as either a permanent or temporary solution. It’s a simple and quick installation method which involves drilling a hole using a high powered CFA rig, filling the hole with concrete and installing an H Beam. The spaces between the king posts are then horizontally filled, using a variety of methods, including;
King Post Walls may be used for many different retention applications and heights in a variety of ground conditions, including rock. Applications include basements, embankment retention and flood defence walls.
Our powerful double rotary head piling rigs may be used to bore most soil and rock types. They are particularly suited to situations where a wall is to be installed from the lower level, avoiding forming a high level piling mat.
Our King Post Walls are designed to Eurocode Standards.
Combination sheet pile walls are typically formed by joining a pair of sheet pile sections with regularly spaced king pile patterns and are typically used when regular sheet piles are not strong enough to carry the required loads.
The two main components of a combined wall system are the king pile (HZM or tube) together with intermediate sheet piles. The H pile uses standard clutch connections to enable effective transfer of loading from the adjacent sheet piles. The sheet piles are normally shorter than the H piles, varying from 60% to 100% of the length. The H piles are often designed to carry substantial vertical loads in addition to the normal bending loads.
Combination Walls are generally used for large retained heights or where ground conditions are too weak to offer sufficient resistance to the pile loads, requiring long piles to reach more competent soils. In marine applications, it is common for the king piles to be driven to a greater depth so that a bigger axial capacity is obtained.
